1. Double click the template that matches your NEATO paper stock. The template will open, showing the print layout as outlines. Note: the layout outlines are displayed as double-lines - the inner line represents the actual cutout of the stock, and the outer line represents the 'overprint' built into the template. Every template has a small overprint to simplify the process of lining up the printout.
2. You can now add text and graphic fields and fill colors to set up the layout as you like it. Note: for convenient editing of fields, you should make sure the drawing toolbar is turned on (View > Toolbars > Drawing).
3. To add a colored or textured background to any field, click on the background of that field and choose Autoshape from the Format menu. Click on Colors and Lines, and in the Fill section, click the arrow next to Color. You can then select a color by clicking on it, or click on Fill Effects to use a texture or picture as a fill. (If you prefer, instead of choosing Format > Autoshape, you can also access these fill options by clicking on the Fill (bucket) icon on the drawing toolbar at the bottom of the screen.)
4. To add a picture, click on the rectangle tool on the drawing toolbar and click-drag across the area of the template where you want to insert the picture. Then choose Autoshape from the Format menu. Click on Colors and Lines, and in the Fill section, click the arrow next to Color. Click on Fill Effects, click on the Picture tab, and click Select Picture. An Open dialog box will appear where you can select a picture to insert. (If you prefer, instead of choosing Format > Autoshape, you can also access picture options by clicking on the Fill (bucket) icon on the drawing toolbar at the bottom of the screen, and going into Fill Effects.)
5. To add text, click on the text box tool on the drawing toolbar and click-drag on the template to create a new text box. Then type your text into the text box. Once you have typed in your text, you can drag across it to highlight it and use the options on the text formatting toolbar to format it however you want.
6. When you are ready to print, click on the gray area at the top left of the template marked "Click Here and Delete Before Printing," and hit the Delete key on your keyboard. This will remove the layout outlines so they won't print onto the stock. You should then follow the process below to calibrate the template for your printer and prepare for printing.
Calibrating your printer
On occasion, the printout from a particular printer won't exactly line up with the Neato stock. To correct this, you should follow this procedure:
1. Print a copy of your artwork onto plain paper.
2. Hold the printout up against your Neato stock to make sure the printout is aligned correctly. If it does not line up, make a note of how far the printout will need to be adjusted.
3. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard, and while holding it down, click on each field in your layout in turn until every field is selected. Then use the arrow keys on your keyboard to nudge all the fields by the amount indicated to be necessary by your test printout printout.
4. Repeat the plain paper printout.
5. Once the plain paper printout exactly matches the stock, you can go ahead and print directly onto the stock.

Notes on slippage (USVCRVS Video Sleeve Template Only)
On occasion, the printout won't exactly line up with the VCR Sleeve paper stock. To correct this, a slippage gauge is printed on every sleeve. As well as the template for layout of the actual VCR Sleeve artwork, we have included a slippage template. This template contains a slippage marker that can be printed onto the sleeve to estimate printer slippage before you set up your final layout.
1. Open the Slippage template, which contains a slippage marker. This is a small line at the upper left of the template.
2. Make sure Page Setup is set to Legal Size/Landscape Orientation (File Menu > Page Setup).
3. Print the slippage template onto the VCR sleeve stock. (This will not damage the stock, as the slippage marker is printed outside the usable area of the stock.)
4. Look at the printed VCR Sleeve. The printout of the marker will line up to a number on the millimeter scale. Make a note of how far the printout will need to be adjusted.
5. Return to your final layout template. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard, and while holding it down, click on each field in your layout in turn until every field is selected. Then use the arrow keys on your keyboard to nudge all the fields by the amount indicated to be necessary by the slippage printout.
6. Print a copy of your artwork onto plain paper. (Occasionally, even through you have adjusted the printout horizontally on the screen to compensate for printer slippage, the printout alignment may also need fine-tuning vertically. So it is advisable at this point to print a test page onto plain paper to confirm alignment is correct.)
7. Hold the printout up against your VCR sleeve stock to make sure the printout is aligned correctly. Again, use the arrow keys to make any necessary vertical adjustments so that the printout lines up with the VCR sleeve stock. Repeat the plain paper printout.
8. Once the plain paper printout exactly matches the VCR sleeve stock, you can go ahead and print directly onto the stock.
LIST OF TEMPLATES
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Before you pick a template, make sure you know which paper stock you will be printing to! If you have standard US letter size stock (8 1/2 x 11), pick a template from the US list. If you have European/Asian A4 size stock (210mm x 297mm), pick a template from the A4 list. IF YOU CHOOSE THE WRONG TEMPLATE FOR YOUR STOCK, YOUR PRINTOUT WILL NOT LINE UP CORRECTLY!
